常见的动词短语,如give up\ give away\give out\give off; put up\put off\put on\put down; turn on\turn off\ turn up\turn down; take up\take down\take after\take off 等动词短语的辨析。 注意Must\Need…?

不定代词other/another/the other/ others的考查,尤其是another。复合不定代词及one/it/that的考查。

68. What did she find in the local water?

69. What conclusion did she come to from her research?

70. What did she do to help the sick people?

During the summer holiday, some students might have been busy with traveling, summer camps and all kinds of courses. But a special group of Chinese middle school students decided to taste the hardship of life outside school.

Twelve students in a big city sold vegetables at a local market together. Within 12 days, they made more than 1,500 yuan.

Among them, the oldest is 21 years old, while the youngest is just 10. They are all cousins in a big family and eight of them are from rural areas.

“Compared to traveling, such social practice connects us and makes us learn how tough our parents are,” said Dalin,18, to the City Morning Post. Dalin, a senior high graduate, and her 12-year-old brother Xiaolin came up with the idea.

They learned to work hard to sell their veggies. Every morning they had to wake up at 3 o’clock. Some of them went to the farmer’s market to buy vegetables. Some of them went to the local market to take up a temporary stall To lower the cost, they learned to bargain (讲价)with the sellers.

At about 6:30 am, they began to sell vegetables. They peddled (吆喝) loudly to attract(吸引)customers. After several days, they got some experience, too.

For example, it was better to put vegetables in order and bigger ones on top. When the vegetables are too heavy, they should give customers an extra plastic bag.

When they finally packed up and went home, they had a small meeting. Everyone took notes and shared their feelings.

“We are tired,” said Dalin. “but we gained a lot”.

The idea that red means stop and green means has influenced our lives in more ways than just traffic signals(信号). We have been taught from a young age that the color red means danger and green means it’s okay to move forward. But why were those colors chosen for traffic lights in the first place? For something we have to look at every day, why couldn't they have been prettier colors?

Well, it's import to know that before traffic lights for cars, there were traffic signals for trains. At first, railway companies used red to mean stop, white to mean go, and green to mean warn. As you could imagine, trains ran into a few problems with white meaning go. For example, one train mistook a bright star for a white light and something unexpected happened. Because of that, railway companies finally moved green meaning go and used yellow to mean warn. And it's been that way ever since.

Red has always been a color that mean danger, long before cars were even around. This most likely started because it's the color with the longest wavelength(波长) so it can be seen somewhere farther than other colors.

But, believe it or not, yellow was once used to mean stop. Back in the 1900s, some stop signs were yellow because it was too hard to see a red sign in a poorly lit area. Finally, highly reflective materials(高反射材料) were developed and red stop signs were born. Since yellow can be seen well at all times of the day, school zones, some traffic signs, and school buses continue to be printed yellow.

So next time you are impatiently waiting at a traffic light, don't get so mad at them, they've certainly come a long way.

Last Saturday evening, all my family had dinner in a restaurant.

We enjoyed ourselves while we were at table. However, some teenagers sitting beside our table began to talk and laugh loudly. What’s worse, they began to smoke in the restaurant, which made us angry. After a while, I stood up and advised them to stop smoking and behave themselves. To my surprise, they didn’t follow my suggestions. Instead, they laughed at me, saying that I was too young and too naive.

In my opinion, it’s wrong to do that in public. The future of our country lies in teenagers, who should not only obey the rules in public but also make contributions to the society.
